Why everyone is clamoring for waterproof flooring

Up until fairly recently, the only choices for waterproof flooring were tile and luxury vinyl. Both are stylish enough for any room in the house and have countless advantages. Thanks to technological innovations, we also have waterproof vinyl flooring and waterproof laminate flooring, offering high-end designs and numerous work-heavy capabilities.

Waterproof vs. water-resistant

To fully understand what this flooring is, you should know the difference between the two. They're often used interchangeably, but that's not entirely accurate. One word means impervious to liquid and constructed of fully waterproof materials. The capability is inherent, and it's often waterproof from bottom to top, meaning it can be submerged or spilled on. When something is resistant to water, it frequently repels liquid, but there's still always a chance of seeping, staining, and causing peeling.

What is waterproof vinyl flooring?

This newer version of luxury vinyl is engineered to be thicker and more durable with a technologically advanced core, WPC (wood plastic composite), or SPC (stone plastic composite). These cores won't peel or ripple ever, no matter how much water they're exposed to or for how long. Since it's a version of luxury vinyl (LVF), it follows all industry trends. It has the same style and design innovations, including images taken with digital photography, micro beveling, and embossing. Like LVF, it can be cut into planks to mimic hardwood boards or groutable squares to echo stone and tile.

Laminate, which has long been considered a popular alternative to genuine wood, now offers a waterproof version, which is just what the market has been waiting for. Unique construction, including the ultra-stable high-density fiberboard (HDF) core, makes it impossible for spills to absorb. This eliminates any concern about soaking, staining, and peeling.

Both waterproof vinyl and laminate are low maintenance, requiring only daily sweeping and periodic mopping. Installation, too, is easy. Both can be a floating floor where the pieces click together, mat, and hover over a clean, dry and level subfloor. Waterproof flooring is a superior choice for the home or offices, restaurants where style and practicality are needed.
